Caribbean TVET International Conference

About This Project

International Conference on TVET in the Caribbean

Addressing Skilled-Trade Advancement and Resilience in the Caribbean

Overview & Situation

Historically, the marketing and communications for the conference were handled by volunteers from the UWI School of Education and academic leaders—resulting in limited reach, fragmented messaging, and little strategic audience targeting.

In recent years, conference themes have examined digital transformation, Industry 4.0/5.0, and the future of skills in the Caribbean. However, despite these important discussions, the sector has not seen sufficient, visible advancement in reducing youth unemployment or improving quality of life for people in low-income communities.

The International Conference on TVET in the Caribbean is a recurring regional event, most recently staged as the 6th International Conference on TVET in the Caribbean. Its core focus is on integrating sustainable principles into Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) policies and practices to better prepare learners for the world of work and to support economic development.

Our Role

Comet Media Group was engaged as the first dedicated marketing and communications agency for the conference. Our mandate was to:

  • Develop a clear, compelling marketing and communication strategy

  • Strengthen the conference brand and visibility

  • Engage both public and private sector stakeholders
  • Successfully promote the first in-person International TVET Conference in Kingston, Jamaica after the COVID-19 pandemic

Our Solution

CMG began with a marketing and communications audit to review past efforts, understand audience segments, and identify gaps in outreach and engagement.

We designed our strategy around several key challenges:

  • The first in-person gathering after the COVID-19 pandemic

  • A new host city (Kingston) rather than the usual beach destinations

  • Minimal dedicated marketing budget

  • A compressed timeline to plan and promote the event

From this audit and analysis, CMG delivered a focused, high-impact solution:

  • New Conference Brand Campaign
    • Refreshed the visual identity and messaging to position the conference as the leading regional platform for TVET innovation and skilled-trade development.

  • Responsive, Mobile-Friendly Website
    • Designed and launched a new conference website with clear programme, speaker, and travel information.

    • Integrated coordinated registration and payment pages for a smoother attendee experience.

  • Public–Private Sector Engagement
    • Helped secure the first formal partnership with private sector stakeholders, aligning industry interests with TVET priorities.

  • Integrated Media & Promotional Assets
    • Produced a video trailer to generate anticipation and share across digital channels.

    • Developed print ads placed in major Caribbean newspapers.

    • Created social media banners and posts tailored for LinkedIn, Facebook, and other platforms.

    • Supported TV and radio interviews to amplify visibility and credibility.

  • On-Site Conference Branding & Documentation
    • Designed conference-branded slides and collateral to ensure a cohesive visual experience.

    • Coordinated photographers for every session, creating a strong visual archive for future promotion and reporting.

Through this structured approach, Comet Media Group helped elevate the Caribbean

The International Conference on TVET in the Caribbean evolved from a primarily academic gathering into a more strategically branded, regionally visible platform for advancing skilled trades and strengthening workforce resilience.
